Coventry Registry Office Rescues Ruined Weddings
14 Jan
Summary
- Coventry Registry Office offered free wedding dates to affected couples.
- Five couples were contacted after their venue closed suddenly.
- One groom reported losing £7,000 due to the venue's liquidation.

Coventry Registry Office has extended a lifeline to couples left heartbroken after their wedding venue, the Hare & Hounds pub in Keresley, unexpectedly closed in January. The pub's liquidation left many celebrating couples in distress.
The Registry Office proactively reached out to five affected couples, offering them the same dates and times for their ceremonies in its Black Prince room. Crucially, these bookings are being provided free of charge, easing the financial and emotional burden on the couples.
Sharon Hill, ceremony coordinator at Coventry City Council, confirmed that four of the five couples have accepted this generous offer. One couple opted to postpone their wedding. This initiative demonstrates a compassionate community response to unforeseen circumstances, ensuring that special days can still proceed.
