Fish & Chip Shop's Faith Feeds Over 1000

Summary
- A family fish and chip shop donated over 1,000 free meals.
- Donations support primary schools and a local church initiative.
- High stock costs challenge the business's charitable efforts.

A Greek Orthodox family running the Marina Fish Bar in Willenhall, Coventry, has generously donated over 1,000 free meals to those in need. Natassa Trattou and her husband Melios, who took over the business last April, aimed to serve their community beyond just providing food. They found that direct outreach to homeless shelters was unsuccessful.
However, through the local Pride in Willenhall group, they connected with St John the Divine Church. This partnership now enables them to create 40 food packages monthly, which the church distributes to individuals at the New Leaf hostel. The couple also provided 1,000 meals to four local primary schools during the Christmas period.
Trattou acknowledged the support from Pride in Willenhall for promoting their charitable activities. The donations come at a cost, as the business absorbs increasing fish prices due to reduced UK fishing quotas. Despite these financial pressures, the owners remain dedicated to their mission of kindness and community service.
