In September 2025, a couple in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, Kaija and Bryan Bretzius, embarked on what they thought would be a minor home renovation project. However, their dream of a low-cost fixer-upper quickly turned into a bizarre occult mystery.
As Bryan began investigating the home's insulation, he stumbled upon a series of shocking discoveries hidden within the walls. First, he found old bottles and pornographic magazines from the 1980s. But the true horror was yet to come.
Digging deeper, the couple uncovered a sack containing the mummified remains of a chicken, which they initially mistook for a baby. Further exploration revealed at least 20 chicken carcasses, along with the remains of several other small animals, some dating back to the 1920s and 1930s.
Kaija and Bryan soon realized that the property had been the site of occult rituals, likely involving the use of these animal remains. The couple fell ill after inhaling the aerosolized bacteria from the desiccated corpses, leading them to speculate that the home was connected to a "pow-wow" or "Dutch magic" practice.
The Bretzius family has been forced to completely rebuild the walls of their home, at a cost of $20,000 so far, with the work still ongoing. The occult relics have been removed and are now stored in a local museum, though the hazardous nature of the findings means they may never be publicly displayed.
As of September 2025, the couple continues to grapple with the unsettling history of their home, which has left them shaken and deeply disturbed by the dark secrets that lurked within its walls.
