They shared their joy from their residence at the Royal Star & Garter home in Solihull, West Midlands. Stan expressed his contentment with their life together, stating, "If I had my time over again, I wouldn't change a thing." The couple highlighted the significance of being able to live together in the same care facility.
Stan, born in East London in 1926, served as a radar mechanic in the Navy during World War II before becoming a teacher. He met Ivy at a Birmingham church in 1950, recalling it as love at first sight. They married in 1956 after saving money.
Ivy taught shorthand and typing, and together they raised two daughters. The couple enjoyed a family party attended by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, followed by celebrations at their home for Stan's birthday and their anniversary. The care home manager praised their commitment to supporting couples, proud to facilitate their special double celebration.
