Homeless Charity Opens Decorating Hub for New Homes

A new decorating hub has been opened by a homelessness charity in Colchester, aiming to make home renovations more accessible and affordable for individuals moving into new properties. The initiative addresses a local need by offering discounted eco-friendly paints, rentable equipment, and a dedicated training room for teaching decorating skills.

The hub provides recycled paint at low cost, alongside unopened tins donated by companies, significantly reducing the financial burden on people leaving homelessness. Colchester City Council has backed the project, which is specifically designed to assist low-income renters and tenants transitioning from temporary accommodation.

This venture also aims to empower individuals by teaching them practical skills, enabling them to take pride in their new living spaces. Beyond assisting individuals, the hub will also facilitate community painting projects, offering paint and volunteers for local initiatives.
