U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is expected to assist in unloading the trees from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. Following their arrival, Ada S. McKinley Community Services will coordinate the distribution of these trees via U-Haul trucks to various nonprofit organizations throughout Chicago.
This annual event has become a cornerstone of Chicago's holiday season, warming hearts for decades. Since the Christmas Tree Ship first began its journey to Chicago, it has facilitated the donation of more than 30,000 Christmas trees, ensuring many families have a festive tree free of charge.
