Summary
- Couple married on Fourth of July with 140 guests.
- They reconnected on Facebook after knowing each other in high school.
- Both bride and groom had overcome serious health issues.
Chef Kevin Ashton, 55, and TikTok personality Katie Coombs, 53, celebrated their union on Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by 140 guests at Las Cascadas in Reno. The couple, who began dating in late 2024 after connecting on Facebook, shared their desire for a relaxed and fun event, especially as they found love later in life.
Their wedding featured a unique menu with food trucks, including Slater's Ding-a-Wing for chicken dishes and Handel's for ice cream sundaes. The color scheme was inspired by Ashton's eclectic shirt. Both Ashton and Coombs had overcome serious health issues, with Ashton being declared cancer-free in April 2025 and Coombs also having faced health battles. This shared experience deepened their connection.
Ashton and Coombs, who have both been married twice before, were walked down the aisle by their respective children. Coombs' childhood friend and local news anchor, Kim Burrows, officiated the ceremony. The couple exchanged personal vows and shared their first dance to a rendition of "Killing Me Softly with His Song."
The couple's journey began on Christmas Eve in 2024, a year after Ashton's melanoma diagnosis and before his remission. They had attended high school together in 1986 but never officially met until their Facebook reconnection. They got engaged in January 2026 during a trip to Northstar, California.
Looking ahead, Ashton and Coombs plan to enjoy their life together, traveling and continuing their passion for rescuing cats. They are also planning a Caribbean cruise in September to celebrate their honeymoon and Ashton's parents' 60th anniversary.
