In a unique fundraising effort, hardy swimmers have been undertaking daily dips in the waters of Janet's Foss, a picturesque waterfall in North Yorkshire. This January Daily Dip initiative, now in its ninth year, sees participants brave the cold, day and night, to raise crucial funds for the homelessness charity Crisis. The group has collectively raised at least £160,000 for the cause since 2017.
Participants like Linda Middleton, who described the experience as 'amazing' and 'magical,' travel from across the north of England. Some even adapt the challenge, swimming in barrels in their gardens. The dippers emphasize acclimatizing to cold water and swimming safely in groups. The effort aims to raise awareness and much-needed money for Crisis, which supports over 300,000 individuals experiencing various forms of homelessness across Britain.
