Chandigarh: India's 'Bizarre' City of Order

A British tourist has lauded Chandigarh for its efficient urban planning and serene atmosphere, noting its stark contrast to typical Indian cities. Travel vlogger Jack Heaton shared his astonishment in a video, describing Chandigarh as "the strangest city in India" due to its organized grid layout, wide, green streets, and orderly infrastructure. Heaton pointed out that the city, designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier in the 1950s, feels almost "bizarre" and chaotic-free compared to other Indian urban centers.

Chandigarh's unique appeal has led to its status as the capital for both Punjab and Haryana, and it is also a self-governing territory. This distinctive urban environment, characterized by modern infrastructure and neighborhoods known as sectors, consistently earns Chandigarh a high ranking for liveability within India. Tourist attractions like Sukhna Lake and the Rose Garden make it a popular destination, especially between October and March.
