The Shri Varadaraja Hanumantha temple, originally constructed during the Ganga dynasty and later conserved in the Hoysala period, underwent a major restoration project just seven years ago.
Following the temple's revival, the management has implemented a fee of Rs 600 per couple for pre-wedding photoshoots. This revenue is used to fund the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the site. While the restoration efforts and additional funding have aided preservation, many local devotees now feel that the sanctity of the temple is being threatened.
Locals argue that the temple is seeing an average of 10 couples per day, with even higher numbers on weekends. They claim that many visitors do not respect the temple's traditions, and the spiritual atmosphere is being compromised. Calling it a growing menace, the devotees have urged the state government to intervene and protect the historical and religious significance of this site.
