Solstice Shines After $250M Revamp: A New Era at Sea

The Celebrity Solstice has returned to service following a comprehensive $250 million refurbishment. This extensive project included the addition of a large open-air park, contemporary lounges, and updated staterooms. The ship's revitalization aims to provide a fresh and engaging experience for passengers, nearly two decades after its initial launch.

The refurbishment is part of a larger $250 million investment across Celebrity's five-ship Solstice class. The remaining vessels—Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette, and Reflection—are slated for similar extensive makeovers in the coming years. These upgrades are designed to modernize the fleet and enhance the onboard guest experience.

One of the standout additions is Sunset Park, an expansive outdoor area offering panoramic views, perfect for enjoying Alaska's scenery. The ship also features new entertainment and dining venues, including two specialty restaurants, Trattoria Rosa and Fine Cut Steakhouse. Passenger accommodations have been refreshed, with veranda rooms offering pleasant surprises like new carpeting and ample storage.

Beyond its physical enhancements, the Celebrity Solstice has also renewed its focus on entertainment. Guests can enjoy a jazz quartet, karaoke, and a high-energy musical revue. Live music is abundant, with performances ranging from solo guitarists to a full seven-piece orchestra. These varied offerings aim to cater to a wide range of passenger preferences.

The ship embarked on its inaugural Alaska cruise of the 2026 season from Vancouver. Itineraries included calls at Icy Strait Point, Juneau, and Ketchikan, along with scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier. The voyage provided opportunities to witness Alaska's natural beauty, including whale and seal sightings from the comfort of guest rooms.

While the revitalized Solstice offers many improvements, the crew is still adjusting to the new offerings, which may result in occasional service inconsistencies. However, the overall experience, from the refurbished spaces to the spectacular Alaskan itinerary, was delightful. Celebrity Cruises aims to replicate this enhanced atmosphere across its Solstice class fleet.
