Bronte Beach Warnings: Avoid Christmas Day Chaos

Waverley Council has issued an urgent plea for the public to avoid Bronte Beach on Christmas Day amidst ongoing construction. The development of the new surf club has rendered half of Bronte Park inaccessible, creating narrow channels and compromising essential crowd movement, posing a serious safety risk.

Last year, an unauthorised gathering of over 15,000 people, known as 'Orphan's Christmas', left the beach littered with debris and broken glass. This event highlighted significant crowd control and antisocial behaviour issues that the council aims to prevent this year.

Consequently, enhanced security, increased police presence, and a strict zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour will be enforced. Authorities are discouraging large crowds and warning that alcohol and glass will be confiscated, deeming Bronte Beach an unsafe option for festive celebrations.
