Birmingham's Irish Community Celebrates New Era with Vibrant Cultural Hub

In November 2025, Birmingham's Irish community is welcoming a new era with the opening of the Birmingham Irish Centre in the Kings Heath neighborhood. This marks a significant milestone, as the previous Irish venue in Digbeth, known as the city's Irish Quarter, had closed down in 2020 after operating for over 50 years.

The new Birmingham Irish Centre is a sprawling complex that includes a bar, hotel, sports facilities, dance studio, and a retail shop. Caroline Owens, who managed the original Digbeth site, expressed her enthusiasm for the fresh start, stating, "It's a new era, new building, new place." The closure of the Digbeth venue had been a difficult transition, but the community is now looking to the future and creating new memories in the vibrant Kings Heath location.
