Binghamton is preparing to host a series of engaging events to commemorate Juneteenth in 2026. The holiday, observed on June 19, stands as a significant celebration of African American heritage and freedom from slavery.
The Binghamton Juneteenth Committee is organizing a main celebration featuring live entertainment, local vendors, and a youth art and poetry contest. For those seeking a more intimate gathering, Friends of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will host a social mixer offering "food that stirs the soul, spoken word and music."
Further adding to the commemorative spirit, the local baseball team, the Rumble Ponies, will host a Juneteenth celebration during their game. This event aims to highlight their community partners from Support Black Business 607. Stellar Human is also contributing with a market event showcasing Black entrepreneurs and creatives, complete with live music and food.
