This Shrawan, devotees in Bihar will have the opportunity to perform Rudrabhishek at two significant religious sites. Alongside Patna's Mahavir Mandir, the Virat Ramayan Mandir in Kaithwaliya, East Champaran, will now host the sacred ritual. This marks a notable expansion of services for the holy month, which begins on July 30, 2026.
The Virat Ramayan Mandir, which recently gained prominence for housing the world's largest 33-foot Sahastra Lingam, has established a dedicated Shiv Mandap. For Rudrabhishek here, devotees will pay Rs 1,100 and are required to supply their own puja materials. Priests from Patna will be conducting these ceremonies.
At Mahavir Mandir, worship will commence at 5 am. The Rudrabhishek fee is set at Rs 3,100 on Mondays and Rs 2,500 on other days of Shravan. A special three-hour puja on Mondays will cost Rs 7,100, inclusive of all materials, milk, fruits, priest's dakshina, and temple fees. Advance booking is encouraged to avoid inconvenience during the expected surge in devotees.
Both temples are making elaborate arrangements to manage the anticipated increase in footfall during Sawan. Special crowd-management measures are being implemented to ensure a smooth experience for the thousands of devotees expected daily. The Virat Ramayan Mandir currently sees 4,000-5,000 visitors per day, a number expected to rise significantly.
