Ben Napier: I Don't Know Our Finances!

Ben Napier, star of HGTV's Home Town, revealed on a podcast that he intentionally avoids knowing the specifics of his and wife Erin's finances. He jokingly stated that his ignorance of their monetary situation prevents him from making impulsive purchases.

Ben and Erin have navigated periods of financial scarcity in the past, yet they consistently affirm that they have always had everything they needed. This approach to money is influenced by their distinct childhood experiences and a shared foundation of faith.

Erin explained that while her family was financially comfortable, she learned the importance of restraint by having her requests for things denied. Conversely, Ben's family faced severe financial setbacks, including his father losing everything twice. This history has instilled in Ben a mindset where financial matters are secondary to other life values.

Ben recalled realizing his family lived below the poverty line during his school years. His parents received $1,000 a month from churches, which he calculated as $24,000 annually for a family of six. Erin attributes their ability to manage through these times to divine provision and timely support.
