As of 2025-09-26T22:16:57+00:00, Belagavi district has officially been recognized for 100 tourist destinations, making it the second district in Karnataka with the most tourist spots. The district is known for its historical, natural, and religious significance, offering a diverse range of scenic experiences.
Previously, Belagavi had 97 recognized tourist destinations. In the past year, the government has added three more sites to the list: the Trikuteshwara Temple in Vakkund village, the Shivatirth Mahal (a palace of Shahu Maharaj) in Raibag town, and the Kalikadevi Temple in Koligudda.
Belagavi's tourism industry has seen a significant boost over the past three to four years. The number of tourists visiting the district has more than doubled since the COVID-19 pandemic, with 2.8 crore visitors in 2022, 3.5 crore in 2023, and 3.1 crore in 2024. The district's natural beauty, including its forested areas and the misty charm of the Western Ghats, continue to attract visitors.
The tourism department is actively identifying new tourist spots and improving the basic amenities at existing destinations to further develop the industry in Belagavi.
