Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, is encouraging families to embrace fishing this summer. To facilitate this, Bass Pro Shops is donating more than 55,000 fishing rods and reels to youth-focused nonprofit organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
These donations are part of an ongoing effort to introduce more children to the excitement of fishing. Over the last decade, the company's 'Gone Fishing' program has supplied over half a million rods and reels, enabling countless children to discover the joys of angling.
In addition to the donations, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's will host free, family-friendly fishing events on June 13-14 and June 20-21. These events, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., invite children to catch their first fish at complimentary catch-and-release ponds, with opportunities for digital photo downloads and craft activities.
Families participating in these events are encouraged to share their fishing photos on the Johnny Morris Bass Pro Shops Kids' Braggin' Board, a platform designed to celebrate memorable outdoor moments and inspire others.
