A significant redevelopment project, valued at Rs 225 crore, is underway at the Basara Gnana Saraswati temple. This initiative, guided by the Sringeri Peetham, ensures adherence to traditional temple practices.
The project will see the temple's built-up area expand from 20,000 sq ft to 62,000 sq ft. Key new constructions include a nine-storey Rajagopuram, three seven-storey gopurams, expanded sanctum sanctorum, and new facilities like queue complexes, meditation halls, and dining areas.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is set to perform the Bhumi Puja for the project on Monday. The expansion aims to accommodate the growing number of devotees, particularly during the 'Aksharabhyasam' ritual and festive occasions like Vasantha Panchami.
All construction will exclusively use stone, maintaining the temple's spiritual and traditional significance. The redevelopment includes enhancing amenities for devotees, such as food stalls, restrooms, and a prasadam distribution center, alongside a new temple pond (Koneru).
