- Around 15 men attend weekly creative workshops in Barrow.
- The group offers a supportive routine for participants facing personal challenges.

Launched in 2024, Men's Make and Mend sessions in Barrow are actively addressing loneliness and mental health difficulties within the community. These weekly gatherings see approximately 15 men participate, engaging in a variety of creative endeavors such as crafting glassworks, jewelry, and candlesticks.
The initiative was established to provide a dedicated space for men to foster friendships while utilizing their practical skills. Volunteer Sharon Tait of ArtWorks Art4All highlighted the significant positive impact on attendees, many of whom manage conditions like anxiety and depression. The supportive environment has been particularly beneficial for individuals like Dale, who found solace and routine following family bereavements.
Participants meet for two-and-a-half hours each Thursday at a unit on Duke Street. Tait emphasized the group's intimate size, carefully maintained to ensure safety and comfort for individuals with specific needs, including dementia and autism. The success of the group is further evidenced by the creation of a dedicated Messenger group, enabling members to maintain connections and support each other outside of their regular meet-ups.
