Bangkok Outranks Florence as Top Gen Z Travel Spot in 2025

In a significant shift, the Thai capital Bangkok has been named the best city for Gen Z travelers in 2025, outranking the popular Italian destination of Florence. This finding comes from a global survey of over 18,500 residents under 30, conducted by Time Out in 2025.

The survey reveals that cities balancing affordability, culture, nightlife, and overall quality of life are emerging as top choices for the younger generation. Melbourne followed Bangkok at the second position, climbing two places from the previous ranking. Young people in the Australian city praised its diversity, inclusive environment, and strong cultural scene. Cape Town came in third, rated highly for its natural beauty, nightlife, and affordability.

New York City took the fourth spot, noted for its excitement, walkability, and vibrant nightlife. Copenhagen, at number 5, performed well among younger residents for its social environment, with more than half calling it an easy place to find love. Other cities in the top 10 include Barcelona, Edinburgh, Mexico City, London, and Shanghai, each offering a unique blend of attributes appealing to Gen Z travelers.
