- His mother, Posie, eventually helped coax him down.
Mars, a young Pygmy Hippo at Tanganyika Wildlife Park, has become a social media sensation due to his playful and defiant personality. His "main character energy" and evasive maneuvers have delighted followers and kept his caregivers, particularly Keeper Sierra, on their toes.
In a recent instance captured on video, Mars was found lounging precariously close to the edge of a steep rock ledge. Despite Keeper Sierra's gentle encouragement to descend, Mars appeared to ignore her, striking a pose that onlookers likened to a Vogue cover model.
Ultimately, Mars's mother, Posie, was called upon to assist. With additional guidance from Sierra, Mars was reluctantly persuaded to step down. Following the incident, zoo staff implemented safety measures, placing sticks to block access to the ledge.
