Ayodhya is gearing up for its grand Deepotsav celebrations on October 19th, 2025. The event, organized by Dr Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, will see the lighting of lakhs of lamps across 56 selected ghats along the Saryu river.
Under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Colonel Bijendra Singh, the university team is working to clean and beautify the ghats in preparation for the festival. Nodal officer Professor Sant Sharan Mishra has stated that each block is being marked in an area of 4.5 square feet, with 2.5-foot-wide pathways left for devotees' movement.
The marking committee, led by Dr Ranjan Singh, head of the department of microbiology, is expected to complete the work within a week. Additionally, the online registration of about 30,000 volunteers for the smooth conduct of the event is in its final stage, while lamp supply preparations will begin soon.
Last year, Ayodhya set two Guinness World Records when 25,12,585 diyas illuminated 55 ghats along the Saryu river. This year, the city aims to break its own record and create an even more spectacular display of lights for the Deepotsav celebrations.
