On October 19th, 2025, the Ayodhya Deepotsav celebration in Uttar Pradesh, India, set a new Guinness World Record for the "Highest Number of Oil Lamps Lit." This year's event saw 26,17,215 Diyas (oil lamps) illuminating the holy city, surpassing the previous record of 25,12,586 Diyas set in 2024.
As part of the grand Diwali festivities, ITC Mangaldeep, India's leading incense brand, launched an innovative Augmented Reality (AR)-powered campaign to connect devotees across the country to the Deepotsav celebrations. Through a dedicated microsite, people from every corner of India could virtually experience the event and light their own Diyas, contributing to the collective illumination of Ayodhya.
The initial plan was to light 1 lakh Diyas, but the overwhelming response from devotees resulted in over 1.3 lakh digital Diyas being lit. In response, ITC Mangaldeep decided to light 1.3 lakh Diyas on the ground as well, symbolizing a powerful message of faith, unity, and positivity. The brand's Mangaldeep Khushboo Path further enhanced the ambiance, infusing the air with divine fragrance through 25 five-foot Agarbatti sticks and 25 Maha Havan Cups.
