This year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show features a special exhibit, "Bringing Nature Home," celebrating broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough in his 100th birthday year. The exhibit, designed by Dave Green, presents 10 hero plants for wildlife, each reflecting the gardening themes from a decade of Attenborough's life. These plants are showcased within a series of terraced houses, illustrating the interconnectedness of gardens and the crucial wildlife corridors they form.
Curated by RHS senior wildlife specialist Helen Bostock, the selection highlights how gardens can foster biodiversity. From rock gardens in the Twenties to re-wilding in the Twenties, each plant choice tells a story. Notable selections include white-flowered foxglove for cottage gardens, ornamental alliums referencing "dig for victory" in the Forties, and water-saving Stachys byzantina for its air-purifying qualities in the 2010s. The exhibit runs from May 19-23.
