The 42nd Annual Hunger Walk Run took place this past Sunday, drawing thousands of Atlantans to The Home Depot Backyard near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This community tradition aims to raise critical funds to combat food insecurity throughout the region.
The 5K walk and run is the Atlanta Community Food Bank's largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds support hundreds of food pantries, shelters, and meal programs serving metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Greg Sims, Chief Development Officer for the food bank, emphasized the event's dual role in both fundraising and community building.
Sims noted the diverse participation, stating, "Community is a part of our DNA." The event continues to grow as more residents seek ways to support neighbors experiencing hunger. Organizers highlighted that every dollar donated can provide up to three meals. For those unable to attend, registration for virtual participation and online contributions remains open.
