Ashley James on questioning her sexuality

Television personality Ashley James, aged 38, has shared intimate details about her struggles with her sexuality, a journey that commenced when she was as young as 14. During her appearance on the podcast By The Way with Harriet Rose, James recounted instances of questioning her preferences and exploring connections with women.

James discussed her experiences during nights out in Newcastle, where she would kiss other girls but felt confused by the reactions. She noted that while guys might show attention, the women would dismiss these moments as drunken embarrassment, leaving James to grapple with her identity. She even set her preference to girls on Bebo, finding it a safe space.

Reflecting on her time on the reality series Made In Chelsea between 2012 and 2013, James acknowledged that her dating women during that period was known. She has since found love with long-term partner Tommy Andrews, with whom she has two children, Alfie and Ada. Despite being in a heterosexual relationship, she identifies as an ally to the queer community.

James also expressed her commitment to raising her children without making assumptions about their identities or relationships, emphasizing the importance of not pre-labeling their potential partners.
