Allen County Fair: Sensory Shed & Youth Focus
22 Jul
Summary
- A new sensory shed will offer a quiet space for those with disabilities.
- Investments of $1.7 million enhance fair accessibility and youth programs.
- Special admission rates are available for Youth, Senior, and Veteran's Days.

The Allen County Fair, scheduled from Friday, August 21 through Saturday, August 29, is introducing several enhancements centered on accessibility, fun, and youth empowerment. These improvements are supported by approximately $1.7 million in investments made since 2022 by the Allen County Agricultural Society and additional business funding.
A new sensory shed, expected to be completed by the fair's opening, will provide a dedicated space for individuals with physical or developmental disabilities to decompress. This initiative aligns with "Sensory Day" on Thursday, August 27, which will feature a resource fair and a "sensory-friendly" period for rides and games.
The fair will also benefit from upgrades to waterlines, handicap accessibility, and restrooms, alongside a new $153,000 food service building. This year's celebration includes a fireworks show on Saturday, August 29, as well as a performance by country artist Koe Wetzel on Saturday, August 22.
Special admission rates are planned for "Youth Day" (August 24), "Senior Citizen's Day" (August 25), and "Veteran's Day" (August 28). The fair's theme, "Growing the Future of America," emphasizes youth in agriculture, highlighted by a large livestock auction featuring over 1,400 junior exhibitors and a "Livestock Scramble" event.
