The carrier contained cat food, a note, and cash, leading the owner to believe the cat was abandoned. The note explained that the cat's elderly owner was to undergo surgery and could no longer care for Laibao.
Laibao, four years old and sterilized, was described as affectionate and healthy. The owner, deeply moved by the gesture, took Laibao home and had the cat medically checked, confirming its good health. Despite checking surveillance footage and local hospitals, the owner could not locate the elderly man.
She later posted a public message assuring the owner that Laibao was being well cared for. The message invited the owner to visit and reunite with Laibao if his surgery was successful and he recovered.
