As of November 12, 2025, 71-year-old Carole Munro from Aberdeenshire is proving that age is just a number. The grandmother has been leading an incredibly active lifestyle, participating in sports like squash, triathlons, and karate, in which she holds a black belt.
In 2023, Munro turned her attention to Hyrox, a fitness competition that combines running and functional workouts. Inspired by her son Stuart, a personal trainer, Munro has been competing in the grueling events, which involve running 1km between strength-based exercises like sled pulling and burpees.
Last year, Munro qualified for the 2025 Hyrox World Championships, where she claimed third place in her age category. But her fitness routine doesn't stop there. Munro is also a regular sea swimmer, taking the plunge in the icy waters of the North Sea at least once a week with a group of fellow enthusiasts.
Despite facing a setback a few years ago when she started experiencing hip problems, Munro underwent a replacement and has since regained her passion for exercise. Now, she's on a mission to inspire other athletes of all ages, determined to keep competing until she turns 76 so she can race alongside her granddaughter.
