7-Year-Old Beaver Scout Saves Choking Classmate's Life

In a heartwarming display of quick thinking and bravery, a 7-year-old boy from Aldbourne, Wiltshire has been recognized as a hero for saving his classmate from choking. The incident occurred in the school hall during lunchtime, when Harry noticed his friend had a piece of sausage stuck in his throat.

Remaining calm, Harry immediately sprang into action, using the first aid techniques he had learned as part of the Scout's 1st Aldbourne Beavers. "A boy was choking at lunch and I back-slapped him," Harry recounted. "I went to the teacher and said 'the boy's choking'. I feel thankful for myself that I listened [in Beavers.]"

Harry's swift and decisive response was praised by his Beaver Scout leader, Al Hogan, who said he "was such a superstar and so calm" when they discussed the incident afterward. As a result, Harry was presented with a commendation for Meritorious Conduct during the village's Remembrance Parade, an honor he said made him "really proud."

Harry's mother, Sarah, expressed her delight at her son's heroic actions, stating, "I'm really proud of him. I'm really pleased he's done something good and I think it's really important for kids to learn first aid." She hopes Harry's story will inspire other families to follow in their footsteps and equip their children with potentially life-saving skills.
