Alice Horgan, a 22-year-old nail technician from Alcester, is preparing for a 24-hour "nailathon" challenge to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 BST on April 18th and will take place at Taylor Made Nails, located within the Stratford Garden Centre.
Horgan will work continuously for 24 hours, attending to 24 clients. She stated her motivation stemmed from a client for whom the hospice, which supports children with life-limiting conditions, had been a crucial support system. The demand for slots was so high that clients were reportedly "arguing" over bookings.
Despite admitting to normally feeling overwhelmed after about seven hours of work, Horgan anticipates the positive atmosphere will sustain her. The salon owner, Jules Purvin, will provide support throughout the night, ensuring Alice remains energized with tea and assisting with client logistics. The fundraiser has already surpassed its £500 target, raising more than £1,200.
Further support for the cause is available through Alice's dedicated fundraising page, and a charity raffle is also being organized. Donations continue to be accepted to aid the hospice's vital work with children and their families.
