Bewildered Volunteer Rescues 13 Dumped Puppies

Summary
- Thirteen young dogs of various breeds were discovered abandoned on a rural road.
- Rescuers found the animals in a traumatized state, with one severely underweight.
- A similar incident last year saw four dogs dumped at the same location.

On March 23, 2026, a volunteer from Marching Mutts, Shelly Munns, was alerted to 13 young dogs running loose on Dykemore Drove in Doddington, Cambridgeshire. The driver who reported the incident described seeing dogs "running everywhere" on the remote country road. Munns and her team managed to rescue 11 dogs that evening, with two more found over the following days.
While the first 12 dogs were in good condition, suggesting they had been recently abandoned, the 13th dog found on Tuesday was extremely underweight and timid. The rescued animals, a mix of terriers, dachshunds, and Jack Russells, were all under one year old. This incident is tragically similar to one last year when four dogs were dumped at the same location, with one being killed before it could be rescued.
Munns suspects the abandonment is linked to over-breeding and owners unable to afford neutering. She emphasized that local rescue organizations are willing to work with individuals facing financial hardship to arrange neutering. The 13 dogs are now in foster homes and recovering well, with the long-term goal of finding them permanent adoption. This rescue is considered a miracle as all dogs were found alive despite the dangerous circumstances.
