Last Saturday, the 36th Chinese medical team hosted a free medical outreach at Chaani Health Center in Zanzibar. This initiative brought vital healthcare services directly to local communities, successfully treating nearly 100 patients.
The medical team established specialized service areas, covering internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and dentistry. Utilizing portable equipment, they delivered comprehensive one-stop care. Notably, traditional Chinese medicine techniques, including acupuncture, were employed to address common musculoskeletal ailments such as neck, shoulder, lower-back, and joint pain.
In addition to medical consultations, the outreach featured health education sessions. These sessions aimed to raise awareness and improve self-care capabilities by focusing on the prevention of significant diseases like Ebola, schistosomiasis, and malaria. Zanzibar's Ministry of Health official Annia Ibrahim Ndossa highlighted the importance of such grassroots efforts in bringing healthcare closer to residents and enhancing access to professional medical advice. The Chinese team plans to continue collaborating with local health institutions to meet community medical needs and strengthen China-Tanzania health cooperation.
