Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Satya Kumar Yadav, has urged the state's youth to contribute to blood donation efforts, emphasizing its life-saving impact. He noted that while donor numbers are rising, the need for blood remains substantial.
To address this, nearly 40 blood donation camps are scheduled to be organized across the state in conjunction with National Youth Day on January 12. Minister Yadav stressed the profound significance of blood donation, stating that a single unit can potentially save up to three lives.
As of the end of last month in the 2025-26 financial year, significant amounts of collected blood were allocated to critical patient groups. Specifically, 94,262 units supported mothers and infants, 73,048 units aided cancer patients, and 54,581 units were provided to road accident victims, underscoring the continuous demand for blood for various medical needs.
