By August 17, Aleisha was admitted to intensive care in septic shock. Despite maximal medical support, she suffered a cardiac arrest on August 19 and could not be revived. The assistant coroner ruled that Aleisha "should have been, but was not prescribed" the correct antibiotics on August 15, and her death was contributed to by neglect.
