A father of three, Ash Cooper, died at the age of 39 on Christmas Eve 2024, just 12 months after being diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer. Ash initially experienced subtle symptoms, such as weight loss and blood in his stools, which he attributed to work stress. Despite multiple doctor visits, his GP concluded he was too young for further screening.
His condition worsened, leading to excruciating stomach pains and a hospital visit where he was initially suspected to have gallstones. Further scans revealed an 8cm mass, later confirmed as aggressive bowel cancer. Ash began chemotherapy in January 2024, but despite treatment, his cancer proved untreatable and aggressive.
Ash passed away surrounded by his family. His wife, Tarsh, now advocates for early detection, emphasizing that lives could be saved if symptoms are taken seriously, regardless of age. Their children have raised $10,000 for a cancer charity in his memory.
