25 Oct
Summary
- A 26-year-old art student died suddenly in Paris.
- Autopsy suggests undiagnosed vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
- The rare disorder weakened connective tissues and blood vessels.

A 26-year-old art student from Florida, residing in Paris, France, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2024. Her sudden death left her family searching for answers, which were partially revealed weeks later through an autopsy.
Investigations by her family and doctors in South Florida pointed towards vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS), a rare inherited disorder affecting connective tissues. This condition is thought to have caused an abdominal aortic rupture, leading to her instantaneous death.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome encompasses a group of inherited conditions that can lead to hypermobile joints, stretchy skin, and fragile tissues. The vascular form, vEDS, is particularly rare and can cause weak blood vessels prone to tearing or rupturing, as well as fragile internal organs.
Despite experiencing symptoms like fatigue, easy bruising, and translucent skin throughout her life, the student's condition was never diagnosed. Her sister now emphasizes that apparent good health does not preclude the presence of serious underlying medical issues.
