The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has initiated an inquiry into the death of a newborn at the Government Mother and Child Hospital in Yadgir. The commission is investigating allegations that doctors failed to provide timely care to the mother, Neelabai, leading to the infant's demise. A formal complaint accusing the hospital of negligence has prompted the commission to seek a detailed report within seven days.
Relatives of 35-year-old Neelabai reported that she was admitted with labor pains but allegedly lay on the hospital floor without a bed or treatment for hours. Complications arose early Sunday morning, and a C-section was performed around 5 a.m. The baby was declared deceased, sparking a protest by the distraught family. This couple, who already have two daughters, had desperately hoped for a son after nine years.
