21 Feb
Summary
- Woman's limbs amputated due to severe sepsis after a dog lick.
- She spent 32 weeks in hospital with multiple cardiac arrests.
- Couple fundraises for advanced prosthetics and sepsis awareness.

A 56-year-old woman has undergone quadruple amputation following a severe case of sepsis, with doctors suspecting a dog's lick on a small cut as the potential cause.
She spent 32 weeks in hospital, enduring several cardiac arrests, with her condition nearly proving fatal. Sepsis occurs when the immune system overreacts to an infection, attacking the body's own tissues.
Both of her legs below the knee and both hands were amputated, alongside the removal of her spleen due to complications including pneumonia and gallstones. The couple is now fundraising for advanced prosthetics and sepsis awareness.
Having been discharged, she expressed her determination to walk again and return to work, stating, "It's time to walk now."
