Woman Gives Birth Outside Locked Health Centre

A distressing incident occurred in Faridabad where a woman, Nurjahan, was compelled to give birth outside the Dhauj Primary Health Centre (PHC) as her family reportedly found the facility's main gate locked. The event transpired on a Sunday morning around 3:30 AM when Nurjahan experienced severe labour pains. Her husband and relatives rushed her to the PHC, but their attempts to find medical staff were unsuccessful.

After eventually gaining entry, the family alleges that nursing staff remained unavailable for approximately an hour, leading to the birth occurring just outside the health centre. Nurjahan's family recorded the event, and the footage later emerged, drawing attention to the situation. In response, Faridabad's civil surgeon, Dr. Jayant Ahuja, issued a show-cause notice to the PHC's senior medical officer (SMO), demanding an explanation within three days.

This incident mirrors a similar event in May, where another woman delivered on the premises of a Sector 3 hospital after struggling to locate medical staff. In that instance, two hospital staffers were suspended following an inquiry. While Nurjahan and her newborn were treated and reported to be in stable condition, the recurrence of such events highlights ongoing concerns regarding healthcare accessibility and staff availability at primary health facilities.
