Villagers had to carry the expectant mother, Savita Vishwakarma, across the river on a cot when an ambulance failed to arrive.
During the arduous river crossing, Vishwakarma delivered her baby on the cot. Following the birth, residents managed to transport the mother and newborn across the river. Despite waiting, no ambulance arrived, prompting them to take both to Amarwara Civil Hospital via motorcycle. Hospital officials confirmed that both mother and child are in good health.
Residents have repeatedly appealed for the construction of a bridge and a proper road, especially since schoolchildren also face daily challenges crossing the river. Appeals to local authorities have reportedly been ignored, underscoring the critical last-mile healthcare delivery issues faced in remote areas during the monsoon when lack of infrastructure prevents timely medical assistance.
