Kidney Complications After C-Section: Woman Dies in Kota
17 Oct
Summary
- A 40-year-old woman died from kidney complications post-C-section.
- Her family alleges medical negligence and administrative apathy.
- This follows a similar incident in May with multiple deaths.
A 40-year-old woman, Reshma, from Chhawni in Kota district, passed away late on Friday, October 15, 2026, due to severe kidney complications following a Caesarean section. Her family has alleged medical negligence and administrative apathy, fueling concern after a similar incident at the same hospital.
Reshma underwent her fourth C-section on the morning of October 14, 2026, at the New Medical College Hospital. Her family claims her condition rapidly deteriorated after being moved to the general ward and receiving an injection, leading to blue discoloration of her body and urinary issues.
Despite critical symptoms requiring dialysis, the family alleges the hospital initially refused the procedure. They briefly transferred her to a private hospital before returning her to the New Medical College Hospital on October 16, 2026, where she succumbed that night. Another woman, Anita, who also developed kidney issues after a C-section on the same day, is reportedly improving in the ICU.
This incident mirrors a tragedy in May 2026 at the same hospital, where 12 women experienced acute kidney problems after childbirth, with five fatalities. Police have registered a case and are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.
