Summary

- Victoria Hospital performs over 7,000 surgeries annually.
- Upgrades aim for smoother operations and better patient outcomes.
Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg is set to undergo significant technological enhancements in its surgical suite four, with renovations scheduled for August. The upgrade involves over $430,000 in new equipment aimed at vastly improving visual quality for surgeons, akin to transitioning from early HD to 4K television. This enhancement is anticipated to boost operational efficiency and patient outcomes.
Dr. Chris Andrew, the hospital's surgical site lead, highlighted that while the equipment may appear similar, the improved visuals are critical for detailed surgical work. The hospital conducts more than 7,000 surgeries and 6,000 endoscopies annually. The Victoria Hospital Foundation, supported by donors, funded the current upgrade and is fundraising for two additional operating rooms, estimated at $800,000 each. The foundation is also raising funds to reinstate the urgent care facility as a full emergency room.
