22 Mar
Summary
- A Valentine's Day dinner preceded a man's severe heart attack.
- Doctors diagnosed the man with a 'widowmaker' heart attack.
- Medics saved his life by inserting two stents to clear a 95% blockage.

A Valentine's Day meal preceded a 34-year-old man's experience of a life-threatening "widowmaker" heart attack. The day after the romantic dinner, he began experiencing chest pains that he initially attributed to indigestion from the Mexican food. However, the pain escalated significantly, prompting a hospital visit with his partner.
At the hospital, he was diagnosed with a severe blockage of the Left Anterior Descending (LAD) artery, a critical blood vessel supplying a large portion of the heart. This specific type of heart attack is considered more severe due to its location and requires immediate intervention.
Medics were able to save his life by inserting two stents to clear a 95% blockage in the artery. Doctors suspect a genetic condition may have predisposed him to heart attacks, with further tests planned to confirm this. He is now recovering and advocating for awareness.
The couple initially downplayed the symptoms, making light of the situation due to previous fatigue and their joking dynamic. However, the overwhelming pain and sense of dread signaled a critical medical emergency. He now takes blood-thinning medication and a GoFundMe has been set up to help with his medical expenses.
