A new memorial bench has been installed in Wellingborough, serving as a symbol of support for those experiencing mental health challenges. The initiative was spearheaded by Anne-Marie, a local mother who organized the fundraising efforts. Approximately £1,265 was raised through community efforts to fund the bench's placement along the Embankment.
This project honors Anne-Marie's ex-partner, who died by suicide in 2024. The Seddon Legacy Project, a group founded by Anne-Marie, collaborated with local organizations like North Northamptonshire Council and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide to bring the bench to fruition.
The bench is designed to be a beacon of hope. It features lighting to aid in reading contact numbers and includes QR codes that direct individuals to a dedicated help page and 24-hour support services, reinforcing the message that no one is alone.
