Summary
- An 80-year-old woman died and over 150 people fell ill.
- Suspected food poisoning occurred at a wedding in Amroha district.
- Contaminated food, possibly dahi-bhalla or paneer, is suspected.

A wedding celebration in Kamalpur Kazi village, Amroha district, ended in tragedy with the death of an 80-year-old woman and over 150 guests falling ill from suspected food poisoning. The event, attended by more than 500 people on April 19, saw attendees develop symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea starting April 20. Officials are investigating the cause, with the family of the deceased, Phoolwati, declining a postmortem examination.
The health department has established a medical camp in the village to offer treatment and monitor the condition of those affected. Most patients are reportedly being managed at home. Assistant commissioner of food safety, Vinay Kumar Agrawal, indicated that the department was informed on April 21, by which time the food had been discarded. Preliminary findings suggest that food prepared earlier and kept in the heat, possibly stale dahi-bhalla or paneer, may have been contaminated.
