Vitamin A Camp Targets Over 1 Lakh Children
21 Feb
Summary
- Supplementation camp for Vitamin A to be held February 23-28.
- Over 1 lakh children aged six months to five years to receive doses.
- Vitamin A is crucial for vision, immunity, and epithelial tissue health.

A vital Vitamin A supplementation camp is scheduled from February 23 to February 28, with the exception of Wednesday. This initiative will be available at anganwadi and sub-health centres within the district, aiming to reach a significant number of young residents. The program intends to administer Vitamin A liquid to 1,09,118 children who fall within the age group of six months to five years. These doses will be distributed through 2,080 anganwadi centres and 378 sub-health centres.
Vitamin A plays an indispensable role in promoting healthy vision, particularly in low-light conditions, and is essential for maintaining robust immunity. It also contributes to the health of epithelial tissues found in the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes, thus preventing various infections and potentially certain cancers. The drive, conducted twice annually, addresses deficiency concerns which can lead to vision impairment and severe infections in children.
Children between six and eleven months old will receive 1 ml of the Vitamin A liquid. Those aged twelve months up to five years will be administered 2 ml. District officials have appealed to parents to ensure all children under five years of age attend the camp and receive their designated Vitamin A dose to safeguard their health.
