Summary
- Over 47 residents infected with Hepatitis A and Typhoid this month.
- A 12-year-old girl died during treatment for the illness.
- Officials are investigating contaminated water supply as the cause.

An outbreak of Hepatitis A and Typhoid has affected at least 47 residents in Sajuma village this month, with contaminated water suspected as the cause. The health crisis prompted a visit from the deputy commissioner and civil surgeon to inspect households and collect samples. Of 109 residents tested, 35 were found to have Hepatitis A and 12, Typhoid.
Tragically, a 12-year-old girl succumbed to the illness while undergoing treatment; her final report is pending confirmation. Her younger brother is hospitalized but reported to be stable. The deputy commissioner has assured residents of prompt action to improve drinking water facilities and contain the outbreak.
Temporary health camps have been established, offering 24-hour medical services including free consultations, treatment, and diagnostic tests. The deputy commissioner also directed investigations into the village's water supply, exploring options from the Bhakra canal and emphasizing the repair of damaged pipelines. A non-functional RO plant is also slated for immediate repair to ensure access to safe drinking water.
