The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) is partnering with the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital) to improve cancer treatment across Vietnam. They have published adapted NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology for breast and ovarian cancers, addressing high-incidence cancers for women in the region. These adaptations customize international standards for Vietnam's specific practice patterns and healthcare technologies.
This collaboration signifies a commitment to enhancing cancer care quality and harmonizing treatment with global evidence-based practices. Prof. Le Van Quang highlighted the profound significance of this joint effort, aiming to elevate diagnostic and treatment standards. This follows a 2023 pilot program that adapted guidelines for lung cancer, with liver cancer also adapted, bringing the total to four.
Local panel members contributed essential insights, including management of ovarian cancer during pregnancy. Dr. Quang noted this specific addition provides crucial guidance for complex decision-making in such cases. NCCN CEO Crystal S. Denlinger acknowledged the mutual benefit of this knowledge exchange, which supports research and education worldwide and can inform National Cancer Control Plans.
